Terms of service

Plain-language terms for using Iqra.

The agreement

By installing or using the Iqra mobile application ("Iqra", "the app"), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the app.

What you can do

Iqra is provided free of charge for personal use. You may use it on any Android device you own. You may not redistribute, decompile, or sell the app or its contents. The Quran source text is in the public domain; the Sahih International English translation is used under its open license and attributed in the app.

What we provide, and how

Iqra is provided "as is", with no warranty. We do our best to make the morning lock reliable, but Android is a complex platform and some manufacturers (Xiaomi, Huawei, OnePlus) aggressively suspend background apps. We surface these issues in-app and link to manufacturer settings, but we cannot guarantee 100% reliability on every device.

Your responsibility

Iqra is a habit aid. It is not a parental control, a security tool, or a medical device. It is not a substitute for self-discipline. You remain responsible for what you read, when you read it, and how you spend your time.

The app does not enforce any religious obligation. The reading plan and translations are provided as a convenience and have been reviewed for accuracy, but Iqra is not a substitute for scholarly tafsir or guidance from your local imam.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Iqra and its developer are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including but not limited to data loss, missed alarms, or device-specific behavior.

Changes

We may update these terms. The "last updated" date at the top of this page changes when we do. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the country where the developer is registered. Any dispute is to be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.
